Application Cut-off Date for Special Education Scholarships Extended to 28 February 2013
The Society collaborated with the Open University of Hong Kong in offering two academic programmes in 2012 ─ ‘Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Special Educational Needs)’ and ‘Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education (Special Educational Needs)’. Both programmes are recognised by the Social Welfare Department as the equivalent to the ‘One-year In-service Course in Special Child Care Work’. Graduates of the degree programmes will be considered as meeting the Education Bureau’s academic entry qualification for kindergarten principals.
Over the past year, dozens of pre-school teachers and parents were awarded scholarships and study awards sponsored by the Joseph Lau Luen-hung Charitable Trust. Out of the four core courses, namely 'Early Assessment and Intervention’, 'Supporting Young Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders’, 'Teaching Pre-school Children at-Risk of Dyslexia’ and ‘Language Delay and Training’ developed by experienced psychologists and therapists of Heep Hong Society, the first two core courses will be offered again in April 2013.
The application deadline for scholarship awards is extended to 28 February 2013.
