The Great Chefs of Hong Kong ─ Culinary Extravaganza's 20th Anniversary
2011-04-28
Foodies Meet, Greet and Eat at the Grand Hyatt on 2 June
(Hong Kong, 21 April 2011) The incomparable culinary experience, The Great Chefs of Hong Kong, returns to the Grand Hyatt for the event's 20th successive year to the delight of Hong Kong gastronomists. This major annual fund raising event benefits Heep Hong Society.
Presenting 40 incredible chefs and 51 of the city's top food and beverage establishments, The Great Chefs are uniting on a pro-bono basis for the year's best culinary event. Celebrities, socialites and food enthusiasts alike are invited to join Hong Kong's top Chefs at the Grand Hyatt on 2 June 2011 for a cultured evening, on behalf of a good cause.
Epicureans can choose between three dining options at the Grand Hyatt: a Great Chef's ticket ($800 HKD) will ensure a place between 6-9pm in the Grand Ballroom where one can enjoy fine champagne and signature dishes of over 30 different outlets; a Great Chef's Plus ticket ($1,380 HKD) gains entry into the Grand Ballroom plus a seat at one of the Grand Rooms' exclusive tables between 6:30-9:30pm, where patrons will be hosted by six chefs and select wine companies; The Star Chefs Plus experience will be held between 7-10.30pm in The Tiffin Lounge ($1,800 HKD) where eight Chefs, including Michelin-starred Chefs Ken Yu of Cuisine Cuisine and Alexis Waltrin of Hullett House Hotel, will cook for and entertain guests who will enjoy the sensation of premium wine, fine food and good conversation. Having held the event for the past ten years, the Grand Hyatt will be represented by Executive Chef Marcus Mathyssek. He, together with other chefs, will be on-hand to welcome guests. (A full list of participants is listed below.)
Simon Tam will MC the 600 guests in the Grand Ballroom, live entertainment will be on-hand in the Grand Rooms, for its 200 seated guests, and another 200 VIPs in The Tiffin Lounge will be entertained by a string orchestra, live music and a silent auction. The lucky draw of Heep Hong Society's Grand Raffle 2011 will also take place on the occasion.
Well-seasoned and renowned chefs, hotels, wine wholesalers, suppliers and entertainers donate their time, energy and produce to the event, year after year, because they recognize Heep Hong Society to be a worthy cause. All proceeds go to the charity ensuring that local children with learning or social difficulties such as Autism, Asperger Syndrome and ADHD directly benefit from this event.
Heep Hong has operated 30 service centres in Hong Kong to help pre-school, primary and secondary school children with Autism, Asperger Syndrome, ADHD, specific learning difficulties and other special needs, develop to their full potential. The society actively promotes social integration, and endeavours to support all families with special needs children including the ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. Nancy Tsang, Director of Heep Hong, said, “We feel blessed to be hosting this event for a 20th year, it just shows the true spirit of the Hong Kong community. All the participants are like-minded in that they believe food and life tastes better when you share it, and what better way to share it than to do something for the collective good. Thank you to all our supporters.”
